As most of us are already aware, long time friend, member, and faithful QCBC CBC participant Alexei Kondratiev passed away on May 28th, 2010 from an heart attack.

While most of us in the club knew him from the birding world, he was very accomplished in his professional life teaching Irish language and Celtic history, as well as speaking over 60 languages - reportedly fluent in 13 to 20 of them.

He taught the Irish language and Celtic history at the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan, New York from 1985 until the time of his passing. He authored four books on Celtic ritual, as well as numerous articles, papers, and contributions to periodicals.

A memorial is planned for Alexei at the Irish Arts Center.
