2014 CBC Results

After few fumbles, the results are finally in!

We got way more high counts for species than for any year compiler Corey Finger can remember of the seven years he has been involved in the count. We set new record highs for:

Red-bellied Woodpecker - 65
Downy Woodpecker - 92
Tree Swallow - 3
White-breasted Nuthatch - 79
Redhead - 59
Long-tailed Duck - 59
Monk Parakeet - 123
Red-throated Loon - 46
Cooper's Hawk - 10
Belted Kingfisher - 14
Winter Wren - 9
Carolina Wren - 37
Chipping Sparrow - 3
Northern Cardinal - 236
Pine Warbler - 3

We also had a new species for the count, Wilson's Warbler. I'm not sure if it was the warm weather we've been having, the number of participants, or some combination of the two, but I sure do appreciate the results. Last year we set our modern record for most species. This year we tied our all time record for species and had an all time high number of birders participate. Next year let's do both!
